SCOTT PLEYDELL-PEARCE

Scott is originally from the South West coast of England and has a rich background in the arts, having spent six years at art school before the digital age. During this time, he explored a wide range of mediums, including drawing, painting, graphic design, printmaking, sculpture, and photography. His academic journey continued with advanced studies in 2D and 3D animation, launching a successful career that spans over 30 years.

In 2012, Scott’s passion for painting was ignited when he discovered watercolour and plein air work. Balancing his role as an animation director with his immersion in watercolour, he embraced the challenge of mastering what many artists consider one of the most difficult mediums. For Scott, painting is a continuous process of experimentation—learning from mistakes, mastering new techniques, and always starting again with fresh eyes. His dedication to plein air painting allows him to engage with the world around him, constantly seeking new locations, subjects, and perspectives to keep his work vibrant and dynamic.

Scott’s style is bold, energetic, and dynamic, showcasing his ability to render both precise, realistic details and loose, impressionistic brushwork. After relocating to Canada in 2016, Scott embraced the diverse landscapes of Vancouver and the Okanagan, finding inspiration in the region's mountains, lakes, oceans, beaches, farmland, urban scenes, and everyday figures. This vast variety offers endless stimulus for Scott, making his work both prolific and ever-evolving.
